We look forward to having you as a guest at Bare Lake and thought you might like to have a list of possible things to bring along on your trip. Keep in mind that we are located at an altitude of 4800 feet and can expect any kind of weather throughout the season. 

CLOTHING Raingear, warm coat, hat, boots, sun hat, hiking boots, fly fishing vest.

COSMETICS Sunscreen, hand lotion, lip balm, mosquito repellent (June & July).

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT Camera and film, sunglasses, binoculars, day pack, float tubes, flashlight, snacks, liquor and extra mix.

FISHING GEAR Regulations require a single barbless hook & bait ban are in effect, catch and release is promoted so bring along pliers to pinch down barbs and extra single hooks for lures.

Flies and lures are available at the lodge. This list is for those who like to tie their own flies or those who have a tackle box full of lures and wonder what to bring.

FLATFISH F3 and F4 red fluorescent with eyes, gold plate, silver plate and yellow with red and black dots.

HOT SHOTS 1 1/2 inches, colors: frog, fluorescent red, blue scale.

SNEAKS 1/8 oz. Fire black dot.

MEPPS Black fury, BFO.

FLIES (a few suggestions) Deer Hair or Tom Thumb size 8, Black Ant size 12, Adams size 10, Muddler Minnow size 6 or 8, Mosquito Larva size 14, Marabou Leech (Black or Mauve) size 6 or 8, Doc Spratley (Black Red or Green) size 6 - 14, Carey Special size 6 - 12, Dragon Fly Nymph size 6 - 3XL, Elk Hair Caddis size 8 - 16, Callibaetis size 14 - 16.

FLY FISHING TACKLE Rods and lines #4 - #6, Lines - Floating and sinking tip (full sink limited use on some lakes). Fly reel with at least 50 yards of backing as these fish fight hard. Chironomids size 14-16.

TIPPET (leader) spools in sizes 4x and 5x.

Guests are limited to 40 lbs of luggage packed in a duffel bag.

You will be flying with Doug Smallman of Caribou Chilcotin Helicopters Ltd. They are very conveniently located right beside the main commercial airport terminal at #5 2975 Airport Rd. Their phone number is (250) 376-7790. They have two Jet Ranger Helicopters each capable of holding four guests , pilot and gear. Please watch your gear as the helicopter does not have as much room as floatplanes. Remember, pack in soft sided duffel type bags.

We want your flight to go smoothly so please observe the flight schedule of 9am Saturday and Monday. If we can fill the helicopter in and out of camp or you have a group of 10 or more this schedule can be adjusted so write or call and we will make the arrangements for you. Check in a few days before your flight by calling the helicopter company or if you are staying in Kamloops overnight give them a call when you get settled at your motel. We want to make your trip one you will remember for a long time so if there is anything special you need or want done please call or write.
